Day Four at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 ended with the grand “Interstellar” collection by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna presented by NEXA. Couturiers Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna made a grand comeback at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 after 15 years. Known for their global sensibilities and impeccable cuts, the designers put forth their collection ‘Interstellar’, which embodied NEXA’s characteristics – new age and innovation.
It was luxury all the way as the designing pair unveiled spectacular creations that were a representation of the angular sleek lines of NEXA characteristics of New Age and, Innovation. Creating a grand sartorial balance, the NEXA colours of black and white with tones of grey, platinum and Gunmetal formed the basis of the line along with the statement-making signature NEXA Blue. Always ensuring that the fabric choice was lush and opulent there were plush satins, frosty silks, sheer tulles and suiting organzas that brought grandeur to the ensembles.
The crystalline hues were further enhanced with an intricate lavish splash of pearlescent beaded elements, which simultaneously revealed touches of minimalism. The metallic indications were apparent for the graceful silhouettes that came alive with hints of luminous touches and a blend of shadow features. Geometric patterns made a strong impact as beading brought luxurious embellishments, which projected the linear angles that were seamlessly, combined to match the intricacies of design by NEXA.
Swirling, fluid silhouettes made a fashion statement with sheer fabrics, transparent sequins, crystals and fringe detailing. The opulent lustre and metallic hues of the creations came in perfect harmony on the ramp. Flamboyant ruffled sleeves added to the glam quotient of the ensemble while heavily embroidered creations glittered under the ramp lights.
Women’s wear was a study in extravagant glamour with fringes as the prime detail for the ensembles. Angular asymmetry was seen for dresses, gowns, wrap slim skirts, halters, high slit dresses, plunged neckline fringed mini sheaths and one-shoulder dolman sleeved mini. The coat- dress sheath, shorts with wrap sheer mini, the one-shouldered ombré gown with embroidered bodice, revealed ultra-glam extravaganza.
Men’s wear featured jackets with discreet shimmer and some innovative construction. Corded jackets with kurtas, waist coats, jumpsuits with extended shoulders, short one- lapel jacket, and long line jackets were unconventional. The faux waistcoat and tuxedo style version were followed by one-button, layered jackets and double-lapel ones with large welt pockets.
