In the third episode of Koffee With Karan 8, filmmaker Karan Johar revealed that he had offered actress Sara Ali Khan a song in the film Liger, starring Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda. However, Sara politely declined the offer.

Recalling the incident, Johar said, "I think Sara, we had asked you to do a song in the movie 'Liger' which you politely ran away from! You would have otherwise been in one of the songs in the film." Sara responded with a chuckle, "You all addressed the Liger in the room, now let the Liger RIP." The discussion about Liger came about as Ananya Panday opened up about the film's failure at the box office. She mentioned that her mother, Bhavana Panday, was among those who advised her against doing the film.

As the conversation progressed further, the Student Of The Year 2 actress also spoke about not getting respected while reacting to Siddhant Chaturvedi’s remark from a round table. She insisted, “Honestly, it’s not easy for anyone in this business. But it does get tough because I think all I worked for is validation. I am my father’s daughter and he is a huge people-pleaser. In every aspect of my life, I’ve just wanted love from people.”

She added, “Luckily, I did get love with my first film. But something I feel like I haven’t gotten yet is respect from people. That’s something I am really working towards. I do want to feel validated as a good actor. And I want people to think that I am worthy of the opportunities I have gotten.”
