Filmmaker Karan Johar has heaped praise on Tu Yaa Main, calling it a “must watch in the cinemas” shortly after attending a screening of the survival thriller. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, Tu Yaa Main released in theatres on February 13, 2026. The film is the Indian adaptation of the Thai survival drama The Pool and stars Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor in lead roles.
Taking to social media, Karan Johar shared an enthusiastic note about the film’s intense second half. Describing it as a “traumatising (in the best way possible) survival croc edge-of-the-seater,” Johar wrote that audiences would “physically jump out of their seats,” adding that swimming pools would “never be the same” for him again.
In his typically dramatic style, he joked that the film left him so stressed that he felt a crocodile might appear “even in the middle of Mumbai traffic.” He credited Nambiar for maintaining tension with “solid craft and technical excellence,” and praised the performances of the lead actors.
Johar said he was “so proud” of Shanaya Kapoor’s performance, calling it assured and convincing, particularly during the film’s most relentless moments. He also lauded Adarsh Gourav, writing that he felt “every inch” of his fear as a traumatised victim of the crocodile attack.

The film is backed by producer Aanand L Rai, whom Johar congratulated for supporting what he described as a “clutter breaker.” He also extended his wishes to producer Vinod Bhanushali.
Responding to the post, Aanand L Rai thanked Johar for his appreciation, while Shanaya Kapoor replied with a message of gratitude. Adarsh Gourav, along with Maheep Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, reacted with red-heart emojis.
