Student of the Year was a love triangle between two boys [Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra] and one girl [Alia Bhatt]. Now second in the franchise created by Karan Johar, Student of the Year 2, has two girls [Tara Sutaria, Ananya Pandey] falling in love with one boy [Tiger Shroff]. As a matter of fact this Punit Malhotra directed film has a quirky shot where both girls profess their love for the boy in question and that too in a single sitting, something that has already led to quite a few smiles.
“Well, I can safely say that at least in my personal life I have never been a part of a love triangle,” laughs Tara, “As long as it is happening in films, it is fine. Moreover, to enact something like that for a film is interesting as well as challenging. Moreover, as you rightly mentioned, it is quirky as well. I don’t think I would have found better actors than Tiger [Shroff] and Ananya [Pandey] to be a part of a set up like this.”
As a teenager, Tara grew up on filmy stories, especially Student of the Year which released when she was a teenager. “I am a big fan of Student of the Year and am fortunate to be the chosen one to take the franchise forward,” says Tara, “Though this one is a new story, considering the fact that it is a similar world out there you would definitely find glimpses of the first part in the second as well.”
While director Punit Malhotra is promising a new story in this youth student flick, it is the ‘kabaddi’ angle that is expected to bring on the thrills.
“That’s right,” agrees Tara, “Never before has Kabaddi been portrayed on screen like we have done in Student of the Year 2. We typically focus so much on academia in our films as well, so in a way it is really wonderful to show the sports of Kabaddi on screen. This angle is something truly unique and different about our film.”
Well, we would love to see how it all plays on screen. Pun intended.
