“I still feel the same way I did on my 21st birthday” – Abhishek Bachchan

Birthday wishes have become the thing of the past. So here's what we'd like to wish one of India's most versatile acting talents, Abhishek Bachchan - He isn't thirty five today. He is twenty one with fourteen years of experience. Forget him not looking his age, he has so much experience about life in general, that it makes you rethink his age. An actor is an actor but Abhishek has continuously pushed himself and his art deeper and deeper with fan fare increasing by the hour. So, I wasn't surprised to know when I was informed that his current directors, Abbas-Mustan, are taking a day off today so that AB Jr can keep his enduring skills to rest for a day and bask his twenty four hours in the company of the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Yes, Mrs. Bachchan boarded the next flight to New Zealand day before yesterday to be with her hubby to make his birthday a memorable one. Aishwarya's visit was planned and wasn't a surprise as many would think it would or should be. But what the many and Abhishek don't know is that there is a surprise planned for him today in New Zealand.

Says a source, "Abhishek's friends plan to fly down to NZ where he is shooting to surprise him. Abbas Mustan have decided to give the unit a break and celebrate his birthday in a big way. Since he loves adventure sports but hasn't got the time to indulge in them thanks to his hectic schedule, his friends decided to surprise him and have booked an entire day of interesting activities in NZ."

That's a surprise for Abhishek. But there is one for our readers too. Yes, I have tried to get some interesting birthday facts from the birthday boy all the way from New Zealand. So here we go:

First thing's first as they say...so who's the first person to wish you when it's midnight every year on the 4th of February?

My entire family wishes me on my birthday when the clock strikes 12 (midnight). We're very good at it!

Recall your 1st birthday Abhi...come on! You must have gone through those Eastman colour pictures so many times

Not really (laughs), although I have seen a few photos. I know that it was at my grandparent's house in 13 Willingdon Crescent in Delhi. I was made to wear a cream silk sherwani which I still have hanging in my cupboard.

Tell us more about your childhood days. What sort of gifts did you receive or demand on your big day?

I don't think I ever asked for much. But both my parents were great at giving presents.

How is your Players schedule going on? And how's New Zealand keeping you?

The shoot is going great. We've been shooting some really awesome action here. New Zealand weather is very unpredictable but it's a stunningly beautiful place.

Recall any fun filled days (in your words - when 3 mad men meet) Rohan, Goldie and yourself on any of your birthdays?

Ha ha ha, many! Although some of those memories are a bit fuzzy.

And what about when you were in your boarding school in Switzerland?

My birthday used to be during the winter term so I remember there being a lot of skiing on my birthday, which was a lot of fun.

Are you in touch with your school and college buddies? What sort of surprises were thrown to you back then?

Very much. We all meet at least once a year. Each time at a new place.

As this is your 'birthday special' and we won't be talking about work...what's your favourite 'cake'?

As is tradition in the Bachchan household, on birthdays the cake is always something known as 'milk cake'. That's my favourite.

How old would you feel if you didn't know how old you were?

Still the same age buddy. Age has never bothered me. I still feel the same way I did on my 21st birthday. It's just a number.

...and where's the party tonight?????

Not too sure. Let's see what trouble we can get up to here in wellington. Tomorrow is a working day so......

A fan who has never forgotten your birthday as far as you can remember and what sort of birthday gifts do you receive from the many who stand outside 'Jalsa' every year to wish you ?

I have this one group, they call themselves "AB's CDs". They are just the best and sweetest people ever. They never ever forget my birthday or any special occasion in my life. They remind me of many of them in fact. They also come up with the sweetest gift, all of which are on my desk in my office.
