In a recent interview with Esquire India, Bobby Deol opened up about his decision to quit alcohol, revealing how witnessing his father Dharmendra’s struggles deeply influenced his outlook on life.
Reflecting on his journey, Bobby said, “I have seen what it can do,” referring to the impact alcohol can have on both individuals and families. He admitted that his own experiences with drinking made him reassess his choices, eventually leading him to sobriety. “I don’t miss it at all,” he shared, adding that life has become more focused and balanced since.
The actor emphasised how quitting alcohol has changed his behaviour and relationships. “It’s improved my relationship with my family,” he said, noting that emotional awareness has become more important to him. He added, “Nobody has time for bad behaviour anymore,” underlining a shift in priorities towards stability and respect.
Speaking about family dynamics, Bobby acknowledged that difficult times can reshape relationships. “Loss has its own way of bringing a family closer,” he said, explaining how shared emotional experiences helped him bond more deeply with his half-sisters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. He also pointed out that people deal with pain differently, which can sometimes create misunderstandings. “Everybody handles things in their own way,” Bobby said, adding that time and perspective help in healing those gaps. “Eventually, you understand each other better,” he noted.
Through his candid remarks, Bobby Deol highlighted how observing his father’s struggles, combined with his own experiences, led him to embrace sobriety and place greater value on family, emotional well-being, and personal growth.
