As the release of Governor draws closer, the makers have unveiled another video from their promotional series, Appointment with the Governor, offering audiences fresh insights into the film and its central character. Starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, the film is set against the backdrop of India’s 1991 financial crisis and explores a crucial chapter in the country’s economic history.
Following the positive response to the film’s trailer, the latest promotional video features Manoj Bajpayee discussing one of his favourite moments from the film. Interestingly, the actor points to a scene that is less about economics and policymaking and more about a personal conversation between the Governor and his wife. According to Bajpayee, the sequence stands out because of its simple yet meaningful message about preparedness during difficult times. The scene draws a parallel between how families plan for uncertain situations and how nations must also prepare to face challenges.
Speaking about the moment, Manoj Bajpayee said, “One of my favorite scenes is not of economics, but instead the scene between the Governor and his wife. She teaches the Governor a very correct thing, that every family prepares something or the other for difficult times, which is what every nation should also do. Sometimes, the biggest advice or lessons comes not from experts; we get it from our homes.”

Based on extraordinary true events, Governor revisits a period when India faced a severe financial crisis and stood at a critical crossroads. The film follows the journey of the RBI Governor, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee, as he navigates complex challenges and takes key decisions during one of the most turbulent phases in the nation’s economic history.
Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures, the film is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah. The screenplay has been written by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Featuring music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, Governor is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
