en Bollywood News Global moving exhibition and retrospective planned to celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday

A few days back it was reported that to bring in mega star Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday, a grand celebration was being planned by PVR and the Film Heritage Foundation. Now we hear that along with screening Bachchan starrers from the 70’s and 80’s a mega exhibition is also being planned. Interestingly, the said exhibition will continue for a month and will not just be limited to a single location. In fact, the exhibition will be seen moving nationally and overseas as well, to acquaint the current audience with the megastar.

Global moving exhibition and retrospective planned to celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday

Revealing details of the exhibition author, archivist and film historian S M M Ausaja, SrVP with Fantico, a Vistas Media Capital enterprise, who plays a key role in bringing to life memories of the past adds, “The exhibition will be global, and not just restricted to one location. Over a period of time it will be moving from one city to the other and across borders as well.” Ask Ausaja for details on what the exhibition will include and he continues, “The exhibition will include unseen images and footage of Amitabh Bachchan from the 70s and 80s. The whole concept is to introduce the actor who is now a big name to the current audience who only know him as a host. The entire exhibition is to showcase Amitabh Bachchan’s rise to fame over the years.”

If that was not enough, in the past, Ausaja had curated similar exhibits to commemorate Amitabh Bachchan’s 70th and 75th birthday as well. Besides this, Ausaja had even developed a coffee table book based on the megastar that contained unseen pictures from the actor’s life. For the soon to launch exhibition Ausaja took nearly a month to curate the exhibits, ensuring that it would not have any of the displays that he had exhibited earlier. Talking about what to expect Ausaja adds, “I have avoided the post-90s because there is easy access to information on that phase of his life. Everything is there on the internet. It is the 70s and 80s phase which is most interesting for today’s generation, to discover and appreciate.”

In terms of exhibits, the original Shahenshah jacket with the iron arm, sourced from Fantico, will be going on display. The mix of memorabilia will include rare LP record jackets, lobby cards and working stills, none of which can be found on the internet. However, the showstopper will be a cut out artwork of the knotted shirt Bachchan from Deewar by famous artist Shrikant Dhongade.

Titled, ‘Bachchan Back to the Beginning’ from 8th to 11th October the exhibition of rare Bachchan memorabilia curated by SMM Ausaja will be on display at PVR Juhu, Mumbai. Besides the memorabilia, the festivities will also see Bachchan films being screened at PVR along with 3D artwork by award winning artist Shailesh Acharekar.
