The dates of the Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal were locked as August 11 some time back. It felt as if one of the two films might get postponed in order to avoid a major box office clash. But Anil Sharma confirmed last month that Gadar 2 will indeed release on August 11. Today, the makers of Animal have also said that they are also not backing out from the release date. And today, the makers of the Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 have announced August 11 as the release date of their film.

Hence, this Independence Day will see a huge three-way clash between three mainstream films starring some big names.

Gadar 2 is the sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was a partition drama. Gadar 2, which repeats the cast of Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, will take place in the year 1971. Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, is a gangster drama cum father and son story. OMG 2 will reprise the cast of Akshay Kumar from the first film OMG! Oh My God (2012). There is high anticipation and excitement for all three films.

Interestingly, Gadar 2 and Animal makers not backing out has also brought an unusual situation. This means that the Deol brothers Sunny and Bobby would be clashing at the box office for the first time. This is the first time that the films of two Deol family members would be releasing on the same date. For the unversed, Animal also stars Bobby Deol in a prominent role, along with Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
