Actor Shubhangi Atre has brought back her much-loved character Angoori in the film version of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, which is currently streaming on ZEE5. In an exclusive quote with Bollywood Hungama, the actress shared her thoughts on the film.
Recalling her first thoughts when the film was announced, Shubhangi said, “I was already a part of the show when the film was announced, so for me, it was pure excitement. I was honestly thrilled and very happy to be a part of it. It has been such a wonderful journey with the show, and I have always loved the audience’s response. That connection is what really makes you want to continue being a part of the franchise.”
Talking about the loyal fan base the show has built over the years, Shubhangi added, “I feel the audience of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain is extremely loyal. They have stayed with us for over ten years, so for them, this film is like a visual treat. This time, we have stepped out of Modern Colony and shot in real locations, so visually it feels fresh and exciting. It truly is fun on the run. I would not say there was added responsibility as such because we have been playing these characters for so many years, it comes very naturally to us. The only difference is that for the big screen, you have to be a little more subtle in your performance.”
Opening up about whether she felt she should take the character a notch above for the big screen, Shubhangi explained, “I do not think there was a need to change or elevate Angoori in any drastic way. The audience already loves her the way she is. I think her innocence, her simplicity, and that carefree, fun-loving nature are what people connect with the most. There are small nuances in her personality that feel very real and relatable, especially for housewives or women in general, there are moments in her life that feel familiar. That relatability is what keeps the love coming. I feel very humbled and blessed to receive so much love, and I truly love the audience back.”
Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run is directed by Shashank Bali and it also stars Ravi Kishan, Aashif Sheikh, Rohitash Gaud, Vidisha Srivastava among others.
