Reflecting on her first impressions, Konkona recalled being instantly captivated by Pratibha’s ability to communicate emotion visually, noting how effectively she performs even in moments without dialogue. Konkana said, “Because I remember being absolutely mesmerized by her face. You know, she's so expressive. You know, she emotes so well. Even in Laapataa (Ladies) where you're not always talking, where a lot of it is through your eyes and you can't always convey what you're feeling to the family that you're with. But it's so effective and it's a diametrically opposite, completely different part from Laapataa and she does so well in our film.”

Konkona went on to discuss the elusive quality of screen presence, suggesting that while technique can be developed, some performers possess an innate ability to communicate emotion through their expressions alone. She emphasised that true screen magnetism often lies in subtle facial changes and expressive eyes rather than overt performance.

Konkona added, “You know, this is something which I think sometimes people have or they don't. I don't know how much it can be taught or developed. I don't know, maybe it can. But some people have a certain screen presence, and I think that's just something I… I don't even know how you teach that. You know, some people's faces actually do express what they want it to express because, you know, you might think that, yeah, I'm feeling sad, I'm wanting to look sad, but if it's not coming across in the face, you're thinking it, but if it's not coming through… Often it does when you think something, I feel it does come through. But with some people it's just more expressive than others, and of course, eyes — very expressive eyes.”

Her remarks underline the importance of non-verbal performance in cinema, especially in roles where silence and restraint carry as much weight as dialogue. By highlighting Pratibha’s ability to convey emotion through expression alone, Konkona pointed to the kind of instinctive presence that can elevate a character beyond the written page.
