Kabir Khan helmed sports drama 83 is all set to hit the silver screens on December 24, 2021. The film is based on the historic win of Team India during the 1983 World Cup and stars Ranveer Singh as Captain Kapil Dev.

While the film is jointly produced by Producer Sajid Nadiadwala along with Madhu Mantena and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment.Two years ago producer Sajid Nadiadwala got into an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama and expressed how special the film is for him.

Sajid said, "We were in college that time (World Cup of 1983) So, 83 has played all those people who were there. It has changed the concept of sports in India. So, we were always a part of it and we remember, how we had danced and cheered and heard it on the radio. We could hear the Zimbabwe match and 'lost' sound and those 175 runs. There was a great feeling and then we realised that the BCCI and the big thing and that every cricketer was honoured, so it became bigger and bigger. So, somewhere we had forgotten 83, we should know about it."

He added, "Earlier when the topic used to come, everyone used to hold their head high. But somewhere it was there how did the world cup happen. I also came in very late and I was greedy to be a part of this film. When somebody dug it out of there and said that we're making 83 and then suddenly people realised that it is the biggest story to be told. And the best thing in the world is Kabir Khan and his hard work. The way he works meticulously, this film needed somebody like him because the way they're shooting is a very tiresome film and he was there."
