Following the release of Ek Villain Returns, Arjun Kapoor recently spoke at length about the film industry, the boycott trends, the massive trolling and more. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, the actor speaks about the audience’s perception towards films and shares his thoughts on the response his film has been receiving in Indian and overseas markets.
Talking about the film’s fairly good performance overseas like in UK, Gulf, Australia, America, Arjun said, “Yes, it’s managed to hold its zone in such countries, considering the film’s not-so-ideal genre for overseas. But I think it did well because of the music. I also think that overseas is not as touched by perception and chatter. Here there’s a lot of chatter surrounding the film on Thursday or Friday, especially on social media.”
“So, I think overseas is still a little unaffected. They like the trailer, they like the songs and then they go to watch the film without really waiting to have an opinion,” he added. “Because of what has happened over the last couple of months, I think there's a little wait and watch from the audience these days in India. So maybe overseas the audience is a little more reactive, like how it was before in India. I feel the audience in India these days, waits for reviews before going to the theatre like how earlier it used to be.”
Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor was most recently seen in Ek Villain Returns with John Abraham, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria. The actor will next star in The Ladykiller and Kuttey.
