Bringing a sci-fi twist to the Indian mythological tale of Kalki avatar was the pan-India Nag Ashwin directorial Kalki 2898 AD. The film, featuring an ensemble lead cast of Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, among others, revolves around the legend of Ashwattama, played by Big B, and his aim to protect the mother before the birth of Kalki – the ultimate savior/messiah. After audiences enjoyed this visually stunning experience in theatres, the makers are all set to bring the same to the small screen with the world television premiere of the entertainer.

After its digital premiere last year, now audiences can once again witness the grandeur on their small screens on February 16 as it premieres on ZEE CINEMA. Ahead of the same, actress Deepika Padukone, who made her last screen appearance prior to the birth of her daughter Dua, has expressed his excitement. Speaking about her character and the film, the actress said, “Kalki 2898 A.D. has been a truly special experience for me. Sumati, is deeply layered, carrying the weight of both history and destiny. She is strong and vulnerable. The film is not only a visual spectacle but also brings India’s culture and heritage to life in a way that we have never seen before. The scale of VFX and technology used in this film is unlike anything we have seen in Indian cinema previously, yet the soul of the story and the characters remain intact; a rare balance to achieve making Kalki 2898 A.D. a truly unique experience.”

While the actress played the role of a pregnant lady on the run from the evil Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), it featured Prabhas as the bounty hunter Bhairava. Produced under the banner Vyjayanti Films, Kalki released in theatres on June 27, 2024, in multiple languages.
