EXCLUSIVE: “British actors were HORRIFIED after knowing about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre,” shares The Waking of a Nation director Ram Madhvani : Bollywood News

Filmmaker Ram Madhvani’s recently released Sony LIV web show The Waking of a Nation is about the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Along with Taaruk Raina and Nikita Dutta, the show has stars a number of British actors who play British officers. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Madhvani shared that surprisingly none of the British actors were aware about the massacre.

He said, “We got 12 actors down from London. They did not know about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Un logon ko pata hi nahin tha. They were not educated that this had happened. But what was nice was that they all loved the dialogue. They, obviously, loved the subject and they wanted to tell the world about it. But they loved Shatrujeet and Shantanu’s dialogues. They are from theatre background. So, they don’t change even a line.”

When asked about the reaction of the British actors after know about the massacre, Madhvani said, “These are really nice people. And they came here and they did the show because they wanted the world to know about it, which was not taught in their schools. They were so supportive and so, in a way, horrified by what had happened.”

Produced by Ram Madhvani films, The Waking of a Nation also stars Sahil Mehta and Bhawsheel Singh Sahni in pivotal roles.
