T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar and Chalk N Cheese Films’ Tushar Hiranandani and Nidhi Parmar are celebrating the success of Srikanth – Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne. Starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, the film has collected Rs. 18.04 crores at the box office. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the three producers talked about the film, the upcoming projects and why they opted for the theatrical release for Srikanth instead of a streaming release.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Bhushan Kumar said, “When he (Tushar Hiranandani) showed me the film (Srikanth), I immediately suggested it to him, just make the background music big. This will enhance the pace and it becomes happening. People want that to be entertaining.”
He further said, “The second call I made was to Rajkummar Rao. He has been doing films for a while, but those films haven’t done that kind of business at the box office. He was also scared about what will happen to this kind of beautiful film in theatres.”
Bhushan Kumar said they then thought of front-foot marketing. “If we didn’t do that, then it will become difficult because this film has a lot of potential. After 12th Fail success, we thought this could do great numbers and will get respect. He (Rajkummar Rao) also went all out with us.”
Tushar Hiranandani and Nidhi Parmar were skeptical about the theatrical release of the movie. However, Bhushan Kumar was sure that it will do good business. The T-Series head honcho said that they waited a year to release the movie in theatres and it needed to come out at the right time.
Srikanth – Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne is a biographical drama that hit Indian theaters on May 10, 2024. It chronicles the inspiring journey of Srikanth Bolla, a visually impaired industrialist who defied limitations to establish Bollant Industries.
Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the film stars Rajkummar Rao in the titular role. The cast also includes established names like Jyotika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar.
