After garnering unprecedented numbers at the box office last year, director Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story is now all set to makes its OTT premiere on ZEE5 from February 16, 2024. Starring Adah Sharma in the lead, the movie told the story of three young girls from Kerala, who are brainwashed into converting into Islam by a woman and three men and what they face from there on.

In the wake of the film’s release on ZEE5, Adah Sharma shared about the challenges she and the team faced during the making and release of the film in an exclusive quote with Bollywood Hungama. “Our director and producer went through the most challenges. I saw one part of it because I was with them two days before the release and they were on back to back calls, sending lawyers; the film was getting banned in a few places. I thought the film wouldn’t be allowed to be screened. But then the divine intervened,” she said.

Adah also reportedly faced some death threats during the release of the film. Sharing about the same, the actress added, “My father was from the Navy. He always told me (that) if you are standing with the truth, there’s no need to be afraid. When I met the girls who have actually gone through what I went through in the film, I felt like I am the chosen one, who gets to tell so many untold stories.”
