Applause Entertainment, India’s leading content studio, is set to dazzle the audiences at the prestigious Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023 with an exceptional line-up of four films. These selections promise to deliver a blend of genres and compelling narratives, solidifying Applause's position in the world of cinema. Scheduled to unfold from October 27 to November 5, 2023, the festival is set to be a celebration of outstanding storytelling with an expanded focus on South Asian cinema.

After its dream run at the biggest Indian and International film festivals, The Rapist, the critically acclaimed film is set to screen in the Recap category at the Jio MAMI. The film deftly handles sensitive and disturbing themes, including sexual assault, justice, and societal norms, sparking meaningful conversations that demand attention and reflection. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Quest Films, The Rapist is written and directed by the legend Aparna Sen.
Sharmajee Ki Beti
Sharmajee Ki Beti is set to charm audiences in the Gala Premiere category, with a warm yet honest peek into the lives of Indian “Super-Women”, all with the common surname of Sharma. A dazzling rollercoaster of aspirations, fantasies, coming of age and heartbreak. Sharmajee Ki Beti, with its sharp wit and attention to detail universally strikes a chord, as an ultimate celebration of womanhood. Written and directed by the talented Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, making her debut, the film is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Ellipsis Entertainment.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa, a classic whodunnit also has its Gala Premiere at the festival. The film goes beyond the obvious tropes of the genre to reveal something deeper and sinister. Skilfully delving into an intricate world of love, friendship, and family dynamics, this narrative is powered by a sparkling National Award-winning ensemble cast that keeps you guessing till the very end. Applause Entertainment presents, a Mithya Talkies Production, the film is written and directed by Rajat Kapoor.
Indi(r)a’s Emergency
A compelling tale, Indi(r)a’s Emergency is a docu-feature selected in the Icons of South Asia category. The film takes a deep dive into one of the most historically significant chapters in India's history—the Emergency, shedding light on events that have eventually shaped the country we know today. Applause Entertainment presents, an Andolan Films and Scroll Production, this docu-feature is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Written by Abhay Korane and Sunil Kandola, Indi(r)a’s Emergency is narrated by Swanand Kirkire.
