A day after the filmmaker Satyajit Ray's birthday on May 2, Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to him. Big B shared a throwback picture extending his wish towards the late filmmaker.

On Wednesday, Amitabh took to Instagram and shared a throwback picture of him along with Satyajit Ray. In the image, Amitabh Bachchan can be seen sporting white, sleeveless shirt and matching trousers. Satyajit Ray sported a collared shirt. Sharing the picture, he wrote in the caption, “With the Great man himself .. Satyajit Ray or as we all called him fondly MANEK Da .. the closest I ever got to have the privilege of working with him .. in remembrance … on his Birth Anniversary May 2nd.”

As soon as he shared the post, fans and followers poured their love in the comments section. Reacting to the picture, a user wrote, “Both the men in frame worth respect Sir,” while another fan commented, “Too much talent in one image.” A comment also read, “With so much respect and regards for satyajit sir, if I am not wrong then you did only one movie and that too you acted as voice over and the movie is SHATRANJ KE KHILADI. It's really unfortunate @amitabhbachchan sir that we couldn't see much of both of you.”

Amitabh Bachchan has never had a part in a Satyajit Ray movie. He did, however, contribute his voice to Ray's Shatranj Ke Khiladi from 1977. It is believed that Satyajit Ray wanted Amitabh Bachchan to work with him on one of his films and cast him as Bengal's favourite investigator, Feluda. But the actor couldn't make time for it because of his hectic schedule, so Shashi Kapoor was given the chance instead. In the 1963 movie Mahanagar, directed by Satyajit Ray, Jaya Bachchan made her debut as a young woman.

On the work front, Bachchan was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai last year, which also starred Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa and Parineeti Chopra. He has Project K helmed by Nag Ashwin. It's a sci-fi film that also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The film is simultaneously being shot in Hindi and Telugu. Bachchan will also soon feature in Ribhu Dasgupta’s Section 84.
