Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's wedding on April 14 last year was an intimate affair, celebrated with close family and friends at their Mumbai residence. While brides traditionally opt for a lehenga for their special day, Alia decided to break away from the norm and chose a saree with a dupatta instead. Now, the actress has addressed her choice in a recent interview.

For her wedding, Alia Bhatt selected an elegant ivory saree designed by Sabyasachi. In a conversation with Vogue, she expressed her fondness for sarees and described them as the most comfortable attire. This comfort factor played a significant role in her decision to wear a saree for her wedding, as she revealed, “I love a saree. It’s the most comfortable garment in the world, which is why I wore one for my wedding and not a lehenga.”

Alia also touched upon the freedom women have in choosing their outfits, emphasizing the versatility of a woman's wardrobe. She explained, “You should celebrate the side of you that you feel is leading in that moment—whether that’s a saree, a super easy street-style vibe or an over-the-top gown. I believe the beauty of being a woman is that you can wear all these different clothes all the time. I can wear a pantsuit. I can wear a gown. One of the strongest aspects of this is that our wardrobe is so dynamic. I think that’s a great thing and one should celebrate it.”

On her wedding day with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia graced the occasion in an ivory saree adorned with gold details. She complemented her look with intricate Kundan jewellery and opted for natural, flowing hair.

Alia Bhatt was recently seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film released in theatres on July 28, 2023, and received rave reviews from critics. She was also seen in her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone. In her pipeline, she has director Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zaraa with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra.

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar alongside Shraddha Kapoor. The film was directed by Luv Ranjan, produced by Luv Films’, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, and presented by T- Series’ Bhushan Kumar. TJMM received rave reviews and did well at the box office. Ranbir also has Animal in the pipeline alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri.
