Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has come a long with since her debut i Student of the Year. Known as one of the prolific actors in modern Hindi cinema, the actress has had an opportunity to work with several big filmmakers including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Imtiaz Ali, Karan Johar among others. She has also shared screen space with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Dear Zindagi. She admits that on each set, she learnt something important.

In an interview with Vogue Singapore, while talking about SRK, Alia Bhatt said, “He made such an impact on the way I am and how I behave on set. His behaviour, respect, inclination towards everything in a scene—I learnt a lot from that,” she said.

With Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia added that it was like going back to acting school. “Once you walk out of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set, you’re no longer the same person. Like Ranveer [Singh] says, you’ve been ‘Bhansali-fied’,” she shared. “And from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I learnt imagination. I learnt guts. I learnt the freedom of knowing that anything is possible in front of a camera, and nothing is permanent. They are two very different people but two very strong personalities and influences in my life. Both, I would say, are my mentors.”

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt has begun shooting for the next film Jigra, which she is also co-producing with Dharma Productions. Helmed by Vasan Bala, it will release next year in September. She also has YRF’s next female-led spy movie.
