On the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, marking the start of Durga Puja, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn took to social media to extend his heartfelt wishes to the team of Jio Studios’ and SVF Entertainment’s upcoming Bengali cop drama Dawshom Awbotaar. Devgn’s special shout out went to the evergreen Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee who takes the lead as Probir, the iconic cop in Dawshom Awbotaar.

The stellar cast of Dawshom Awbotaar also includes Anirban Bhattacharya, who too essays the role of a cop and together they are set to redefine the cop genre in Bengali cinema, along with the brilliant Jisshu U Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan. The reference to the cop universe stems from the Singham-Simmba-Sooryavanshi cop universe which was kicked off by Rohit Shetty. Hence, for fans of Ajay Devgn and his popular character Singham, this cross-cultural support for another cop universe in Bengali cinema comes across as a heartwarming spirit along with a sense of collaboration and support from the Indian film industry.

Produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment and directed by Srijit Mukherji, Dawshom Awbotaar promises to be a cinematic masterpiece intricately weaving the narratives of popular cop dramas - Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da. It will hit cinemas on October 19 in West Bengal and fans across can look forward to a nation-wide release on October 20. Advance booking of the film begins on October 15.

Coming to the Rohit Shetty cop universe, the third instalment of the Ajay Devgn starrer is expected have gone on floors a few weeks ago. This third part of the Singham franchise is also expected to feature Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Akshay Kumar Sooryavanshi. Moreover, to add to it, we hear that Rohit Shetty will also be introducing the Lady Singham addition to the franchise, which is expected to be essayed by Ranveer’s wife and renowned superstar Deepika Padukone.
