1942: A Love Story was released in 1994, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra which featured Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. The film was set in the year 1942, during the Indian freedom struggle against British colonial rule.

The film's soundtrack, composed by R.D. Burman, was a huge success and is still considered a classic. Songs like ‘Pyar Hua Chupke Se’, ‘Rim Jhim Rim Jhim,’ and ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ became very popular.

Earlier, Manisha Koirala was asked about her experience of shooting for the song ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh’ and if she ever imagined that the song would become such a sensation in the Kapil Sharma Show. Manisha replied, “Not really, but we all had a great passion for what we were doing back then, and during the shoot, everyone was working with great enthusiasm. We would wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning to hike up the hills for two hours, eagerly anticipating the sunrise and the magic hour to capture the perfect shots. Our team worked together like a family; we all loved every minute of the experience.”

1942: A Love Story was a critical and commercial success and received several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Art Direction and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for R.D. Burman. It is considered one of the finest films of the 1990s and is remembered for its powerful performances, beautiful cinematography, and soulful music.
