He (R.D. Burman) asked me to go and sing the song once. So I went ahead and sang it. He called me after I was done singing and asked, ‘we were done with song, why were you still standing inside?’, I said, ‘this was the rehearsal, we are yet to sing (the final version)’ to which he replied, ‘No no, the song is done, I have taken what I needed’.” I requested him let to me sing once more in a better way, but he denied and said he got what he was looking for.”
