When a film is a solo release, expectations are always high; the same is the case with the Yash Raj Films' KILL DIL that released today. The film, featuring Parineeti Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar and Govinda who will be making a comeback, was expected to start on a good note. However reports suggest that the film has managed a rather average opening across the country.
While the morning shows of the film have opened to packed houses with an 80% occupancy rate, the subsequent shows reflect a drastic drop in bookings. If that was not enough, the film will also face competition, albeit mainly in metros from the Hollywood releases BOYHOOD, that has been receiving tremendous praise across the globe and the action flick JOHN WICK.
On the whole, KILL DIL that has been officially made on a budget of Rs. 40 crores inclusive of print and publicity is expected to do better over the evening, night and weekend shows. However the film will still have to rely on good word of mouth to post good weekend collection figures.
