Last week, we saw the release of two very different films - D-Day and Ramaiya
Vastavaiya. While D-Day was an action-thriller, Ramaiya Vastavaiya was a
typical Bollywood romantic masala musical. We at Bollywood Hungama decided to compare the
two films that coincidentally featured one common actress Shruti Haasan.
In this Box Office report, we pit the two films head on comparing their business over the
Opening Day and Opening Weekend. Surprisingly, it was Prabhu Dheva's Ramaiya Vastavaiya
featuring newcomer Girish Taurani that beat Nikhil Advani's Arjun-Irrfan- Rishi starrer
D-Day which received good reviews by most critics.
From the graphical representation of their BO collections, it's safe to say that even today,
it's the typical Bollywood masala musicals that attact the audiences as compared to a serious
film.
