The socio-political drama Nayak starring Anil Kapoor continues to gain popularity in the small screen as the film has managed to retain its fans through television. And now, after 15 years, a sequel to the same seems to be on the cards.
While there was several speculations about the second instalment, producer Deepak Mukut recently claimed that he has bought the rights of Nayak from AM Rathnam and is all set to collaborate with Eros International for the sequel. Further mentioning about retaining songs from the film in order to revive the memories of the prequel, Deepak also added that they are yet to take a call on casting. As of now, the film is in the scripting stage with KV Vijeyndra Prasad developing the same. In fact, Deepak stated that they are keen on retaining Shivaji Rao as the name of the protagonist. He maintained that the film in question will be shot in India and will once again revolve around politics with a backdrop of romance and will have some high octane action to look forward to.
For the uninitiated, Nayak starring Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Amrish Puri in lead roles spoke about a media professional taking on a corrupt politician, who challenges him to hold the reigns of a minister for a single day. What starts off as a mere one day challenge fuels up to be a much bigger game with hidden political agendas as Shivaji Rao strives to change the system in all honesty and sincerity.
