Alia Bhatt tied the knot with Ranbir Kapoor on April 14, this year, and the event grabbed headlines. While having an in-depth conversation with Mid-Day, Alia Bhatt opened up on all the confusion and specification that surrounded their wedding. When she was asked why didn’t she or Ranbir Kapoor announce the date beforehand, she replied, “Par mere ko announce nahin karna hai. Kyunki yeh public event nahin hai.”
Alia Bhatt revealed that she was amused by some rumours about her wedding. It was said that there are 25 vegan counters at her wedding. She stated, “I didn’t even have 25 guests. What am I going to get 25 vegan counters for?”
Alia also added, “You speculate what the hell you want, it is fine, entertaining. I don’t care. I didn’t want to confirm it. Because you have to understand, I live in a residential building. It was anyway a nightmare [for the neighbours].” She then revealed that she felt bad and also appreciated the support of the ‘poor things’ and sent hampers to all of them.
Alia Bhatt was reminded how the paparazzi was harrowed as they had no idea when she and Ranbir Kapoor would tie the knot, Hence, they stationed themselves at the narrow Pali Hill, leading to traffic snarls. On this, Alia said, “Haath jodke unse maafi maangti hoon,” and reminded that they had made enough preparations for them. They also came out and posed for the media, with Ranbir even lifting Alia Bhatt, which made photographers’ evening.
At the end of the day, Alia Bhatt was happy with the small, intimate marriage ceremony. She revealed, “I wanted to get married at my house, where Ranbir and I have lived together for the past many years since our relationship began. It was perfect, comfortable — I got to interact with everybody because there were only 40 people. We aren’t the big, celebratory kinda people.”
