Music: Agnel Roman - Faizan Hussain & Raj - Prakash Lyrics: Arun Kumar, Faraaz Ahmed & Agnel Roman…
Music: Agnel Roman - Faizan Hussain & Raj - Prakash
Lyrics: Arun Kumar, Faraaz Ahmed & Agnel Roman
Music Label: T-Series

Expectations:

Nothing really, from this small film with newcomers.

Music:

Sufi overtones are huge in the Vikrant Bhartiya and Aishwarya Majumdar-rendered 'Arziyaan', which has some amount of contemporary appeal, ironically because it is so stereotyped in that genre. The lyrics, music (this is the only song composed by Raj-Prakash) and vocals all are in sync with today's trends and therefore very familiar.

The Sufi influence has heavier presence in 'Ishq Hai' (Javed Ali). The reprise version is a duet with Yashika Sikka, and like all reprises nowadays, has nothing really distinctive except for, in this case, the female voice. Again, if well-promoted, this track would be a market-friendly one because it is so studiedly trendy! Javed impresses and the lyrics (Arun Kumar) also are well done.

That said, we must admit that the classical nuances in these two songs are skilled and up the melodious quotient of the soundtrack, something that many bigger films lack nowadays!

The humbler tenor of the film may prevent urban popularity for the rest of the songs, also because the music is decidedly retro. The Holi song 'Rang Rang De' (Suchi-Jatinder Pal Singh-Yashika Sikka) is a classic case in point, because such a song might create a passing impress in what film distributors call 'smaller centers'. The same would be the case with the romantic duet 'Mora Rangdaar Saiyyaan' sung with gusto by Roopkumar Rathod and Prajakta Shukre.

In the interiors, another track that may shine for a while will be 'Jigariya', sung in a full-throated manner by Javed Bashir. This song, also heavily in retro terrain, would have been a major hit from the late '50s to the early '70s in the distinctive folk voice of, say, S.D. Burman.

'Phurr Phurr' (Aishwarya Majmudar-Manjira Ganguly- Agnel Roman) is a playful dance number that with higher grade of singers (and film) would also have been popular in passing. It has a distinct '70s flavour, and has come forty years too late!

Overall:

The music is not a lost cause, thankfully, but will work for a while if the film does. It is unlikely to aid the film, though.

Our Pick:

'Jigariyaa', 'Ishq Hai', 'Arziyaan'
