No Rakesh a Person of Your Caliber should not have produced such a Disaster....Thumbs Down!!! Its Just Not an Omprakash Muvee!!! I guess Ompraksh Just spoiled it. Ompraksh could choose such a Yuck!! script!!!! I wonder Why?? What has happened to him i thought of him as one of the most creative directors after RAng De.. Delhi 6 is not even worst its a DISASTER,takin Omprakash as the director. I must say that its the same as was with Bhansali`s Sanwariya. Rakesh has just let down all the hopes that he had hiked by the muvee`s excellant promos. This is`nt jst rite!!!

Great Movie ! It's a brave effort by Mr. Mehra. We need this type of movies to be made. Very good acting by all actors. The message is good. How important it is to get rid of Kala Bandar staying within us.... The love story could have been made better... In my opinion if there were more scenes between Roshan and Bittu it would have helped... Also in the end Atul Kulkarni sums up the message in one line... I wish there were more dialoges from him or may be from Rishi Kapoor to make message more clear... Overall decent movie ! Great music ! Must Watch !

Don't waste your time and money to watch this piece of shit. There's no logic. All they are showing is what happens on the streets of Old Delhi and the rest of the movie is about the fukin kala bandar. dont spend ur money on it... i watched it online and trust me it isnt worth even that. A total waste of time and brain, cuz no matter how hard u try to get it, u won't. ITS CRAP!

"Hope it’s more of Rang De Basanti (entertaining and loaded with a novel idea) and less of Aks…
"Hope it’s more of Rang De Basanti (entertaining and loaded with a novel idea) and less of Aks (too intangible and boring)," I had mentioned to a friend before the release. Worst fears came true for Rakeysh Mehra’s latest offering Delhi 6 goes the bizarre abstract lanes of Rajasthan rather than bringing the masti of Dilli’s galiyan. Also, the notion that Aamir Khan ghost directs his films seems to be true. For he must have brought a semblance of balance to the total essence of RDB (the right blend of entertainment with revolutionary concept). Alas, Mehra doesn’t seem to have consulted his good friend Khan at all in his latest offering for it disappoints big time.<BR><BR> Firstly, if you’re giving an ode to Chandni Chowk and the nearby area in old Delhi, then how can you goof up by not giving an authentic feel of the buzzing-with-life in closed-confinements so symptomatic of that ghetto. Where’s the parathe wali gali, the dhahi bhalla stalls and the roadside Muslim restaurants world famous for their delicacies. Giving a post-card-like feel of Jama Masjid, Red Fort and rickshaw rides isn’t enough. There’s much more to the area than an overdose of jalebis. Almost eighty percent of the film was shot in Sambhar in Rajasthan since it wasn’t easy to shoot in the conjusted lanes of Delhi 6 but then the Art Director failed to recreate the actual flavour. And that’s a big letdown!<BR><BR> On the positive side, most of the starcast manages to look-n-speak excatly the way one associates with the Dilli 6 janta. Jai Gopal (Pawan Malhotra, fantastic), Madan Gopal (Om Puri, good), Sheeba Chaddha (Rajjo, outstanding), Ali Beg (Rishi Kapoor, charming), Mamdu (Deepak Dobriyal, excellent), Inspector Ranvijay (Vijay Raaz, brilliant) and Jalebi (Divya Dutta, delightful) fill life-like-blood into the language, mannerism and body language. A bit of loud ’chichorapan’, warmth and squabbles on little issues makes you feel, hey, I know where it’s coming from. <BR><BR> There’s not much novelty in the basic story idea of Delhi 6. Roshan Mehra (Abhishek Bachchan) accompanies his Daadi (Waheeda Rahman, sweet and powerful) from USA to their ancestral house in Delhi as she’s down with Cancer and would like to breathe her last in surroundings she’s best adept with. He’s surprised by the love-n-candour of people. He’s equally surprised when they become sworn enemies on religious grounds owing to the scourge of Monkey Man (Kaala Bandar) who had been mysteriously killing people. In between, he discovers love for chirpy Bittu (Sonam Kapoor, pretty and natural) who’s aspiring to be an Indian Idol contestant rather than walking-the-drawing-room of prospective grooms. Their love story lacks the sparks except for some beautiful A R Rahman numbers.<BR><BR> Music is the high point of Delhi 6. Each and every number is a gem. Be it the racy title track, sprightly Masakali, heart-tugging Rehna Tu, energising Dafatan, delightfully laidback Genda Phool (Abhishek’s dancing in this track is a riot) and the spiritual Arziyan...I’d say this is Rahman’s best work as a complete album in a long time (even better than Slumdog Millionaire). Prasoon Joshi’s lyrics are fantastic. But you can’t say the same about the screenplay that Prasoon has written along with Rakeysh Mehra and Kamlesh Pandey. It tries too hard to make a point. Roshan’s dad is a Hindu while mom is a Muslim. He is presented as a symbol of an India that’s above communalism. Good thought but the animosity between the two religions has been showcased in a caricaturish manner and something that has been seen to death in Hindi films before. <BR><BR> Also, the symbolic reference to ’Kaala Bandar’ isn’t anything new. Moreover what happened to the menace going by the same name? Also it’s unclear why Abhishek had to disguise in the end (it does have a few engrossing heart-stopping moments). Although dialogues like ’Koi country perfect nahin hota, use perfect banana padta hai’ in Rang De Basanti hit you hard. But when one hears deliberate coinage of terms like ’Burger Chaap’ and ’India works...the people make it work’ it falls flat and fails to leave an impact. And the constant references to Ram Leela in the film gave a didactic feel. Hammering of preaching is an anti-thesis of movie-watching-experience. <BR><BR> Even technically, Delhi 6 is far inferior when compared with Mehra’s earlier works. P S Bharathi’s editing is average. Binod Pradhan’s camerawork as compared with RDB is just about ok, nothing spectacular. The merging of Dilli 6 with New York in Dafatan song through visual effects doesn’t have the desired effect. Too much of an obvious metaphor. Abhishek Bachchan delivers an earnest performance. But his look was weighed down by ’weighty’ issues which should have been dealt with. Somehow, too much of flab on the face-n-stomach is just isn’t cool.<BR><BR> Rakeysh Mehra is a sincere man who wants to make sensible, meaningful cinema. His intentions in making Delhi 6 are noble and praiseworthy. He wants to think out of the box and refrains from playing to the gallery. Yet, even if you’re having abstract notions in your film they have to be cohesive. Being intellectual just to prove a point is Not done. Also the pace of Delhi 6 is so scorchingly slow that one feels as if you’re sitting in an overcrowded bus that’s been caught up in a traffic jam near Dariya Ganj in June heat. <BR><BR> Delhi 6 isn’t happening as much as one hoped for. Watch it for the songs and a few stray moments of delightful humour-n-poignance.

The narration swayed amidst somewhere, our Basanti Mehraji doesn’t know. But the audience understood while watching the first fifteen minutes of the first half. That the movie maker got confused somewhere between Delhi and the script. So there was ampleness of extra shots. The list begins. Please count them as you read them. What is so special about the sky of the capital – probably the blue colour? Pigeons were white otherwise we have seen them with grey matter. News channels, which one do you watch at home. More often IBN 7 for kala bander and CNN IBN for rocket launching. Dilli traffic, rickshaw pulling, extra population. Yes, mother cow giving birth to baby cow. Little houses, narrow lanes. A number of children running through those lanes and across roofs for fetching kites. Mosques and their Arabic designs, muslims offering prayers. Dark chambers, minarets, jalidar or fabricated walls, but who is interested in this flock. We often see them at Discovery Channel. They still say Discover India. But Mehra isn’t saying the right way. These extra shots ask us explore the science, history, riots, fun, games, history, adventure, Ramlila and its pun… Oh my God. Please stop.<BR><BR> Waheedaji is evergreen. Rishi Kapoor is superb, and the rest are also good including Supriya Pathak, Om Puri and many others. If Abhishek is Bachchan, he can’t always play a hero. Abhishek looks no-NRI with his folded-back-hair and unclean face. Abhishek either expresses keeping mute or with an accent which only he can understand, the police inspector has good dialogues to deliver with. ‘Tanne rukane ki permission di ke manne. Chal chalu rakh’.<BR><BR> Jalebi is prickly pointed, she is not generous, even if she does not win she knows how to revolt, while Sonam is equally foolish, knows nothing. She sways dupatta, wears antique jewellery, plays with Masakkali on head. Beautiful she is, but do not expect intelligence. Rat poison is an old drama, Sweetie.<BR><BR> ‘Sasural Genda Phool’ is absolutely sweet and you remember it long for its essence. Thanks Prasoon, you just sounded like Gulzar.<BR><BR> The real message in the movie was on some of the heavy social ‘custom-duty’. Like, the famous bride-viewing, a little dowry, casteism, late marriage – a curse for girls, untouchability, hindu muslim riots …here a little question arises for our Mehraji, if he had to lecture on hindu muslim unity, why are you not showing the riots clips in the movie promos? Why projecting as if it’s a movie on love between the beautiful heroine and unshaved hero?<BR><BR> Say ‘Jai Bajrang Bali’, and leave the theatre.

By Mazhar Farooqui, Leisure Editor, XPRESS A hideous kala bandar and not Masakali ruffles feathers in Delhi-6. Because while our genial kabootar does no more than just matak and coo, the monstrous creature performs daring sorties and actually becomes instrumental in putting across the message of co-existence when communal passions soar and tempers fray in the walled Indian capital. Get that? This monkey business might get director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra critical acclaim, but the chances of it jumpstarting the movie's fortunes at the box office are narrower than some of the bylanes of Chandni Chowk, which forms the backdrop of the film. Mehra redefined Hindi cinema with Rang De Basanti. In Delhi-6, he may have left the majority of his audience at sixes and sevens. A la Aks (his directorial debut), they just couldn’t connect with the movie’s theme. But that’s not suggesting it’s wishy-washy or insipid, because regardless of how it fares commercially, Delhi-6 will still go down as a great movie, perhaps one of the finest in recent times, and for that Mehra deserves a bow. Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan), an American citizen of Indian origin, flies down to India with his ailing grandmother (Waheeda Rahman) for the first time and is instantly taken in by the sights and sounds of a hyperkinetic and maddening Delhi. Despite all the chaos --- traffic that snarls up because a cow is in labour, power cuts and a mysterious monkey man churning panic and sending rumour mills and television news channels into overdrive, he finds himself forging a bond with the metropolis. The journey from within (that's the tagline, in case you missed it) begins. It’s no plain sailing alright, but initially, it’s not too bumpy either. If Roshan is not gorging on jalebis at Mamdu's shop in the neighbourhood or playing pool at affable Al Baig's (Rishi Kapoor) place, he is clicking pictures from his cellphone -- a blatant plug for Motorola which Abhishek endorses. Amid all this, he’s falls in love with Bittu (Sonam) -- a rebellious aspiring singer, who wants to become the next Indian idol, but much like her fettered- feathered friend Masakali, can't break free. A Bollywood pigeon devoid of any letter-despatching or gun snatching abilities! Give me a beak.. err. break.. What's wrong with our script writers? Cutting back to the story, his family background notwithstanding (his father is Hindu ad his mother, Muslim) Roshan is completely absorbed in Delhi's unique culture. He goes to the temple and also offers prayer at the mosque. But fate and the mysterious Monkey Man ordains otherwise. In Guru, Abhishek had to create Gurukant Desai. But Delhi-6's Roshan is pretty much him, because much like his character in the movie, he also spent much of his childhood abroad. “There was that instant connect. If anybody could have done justice to the role, it had to be me" Abhishek said during an interview with XPRESS on Wednesday. And he was right. Sonam was a revelation. A modest appreciation of her acting skills forbade her from making Bachchan-like claims, but one won't be surprised if she walks away with all the honours. Vijay Raaz as the corrupt policemman is brilliant as are Om Puri, Divya Dutta, Pawan Kumar, Atul Kulkarni and Amitabh Bachchan who has a cameo. The biggest highlight of the movie: AR Rahman's music. Overall verdict: Don't go with too many expectations and you may like it, especially if you are from north India. Trivia: The film's title is based on the postal code of old Delhi which is 1100-06

When a film maker thinks he is bigger than the art of film making,a product like Delhi 6 is the outtcome. Idont know if it is really good or bad...but certainly it is not believable. Though i loved aboutt 40%t of thte film but otther 60 % was too cumbersome . some scenes are really well executetd but some are real shabby. I could c the AKS wala Rakesh omprakahs mehara ,whose creativity had no limitations. but sometimes you got to do a reality check. Music blended perfectly AB baby was really good so was Sonam kapoor.( i would have liked a prettier face actually :) A powerpact scene from Om puri would have added some more acting potrayal. ALso, vijay raj's role could have been chopped a lill.. Climax was believable actually...:), and u must twatch the film for the climax. VERY FEW FILMS THTESE DAYS HAVE A REAL GOOD CLIMAX divya duttat was ogood paawan malhotra apt for the role. waheeda ji ,again a scene with all her emotions ptotrayed was awaited. other than some unreal background scenes ,cinematography was good.actually excellent. Editing could have been 300,000 times better :)
