I might be a little partial in this review. Only because I really like Ritesh Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade as actors. The movie in itself wasn't all that bad. I liked the plot, and songs and the acting was well done -- over done, which, I believe, is the effect the director was going for. Arjun (Talpade) is a car mechanic who is in love with Shivani (Riya Sen). Unfortunately, Shivani's father (Kher) feels that Arjun is good for nothing and doesn't accept the fact that they are in love with each other. When he arranges Shivani's marriage, Arjun comes up with a plan to stop the to-be groom from accepting the marriage by seeking the help of his cousin brother, Kisna (Deshmukh), who is on the run after conning a Nepali gang led by Rana Jang Bahadur (Chunky Pandey). Meanwhile, Carlos (Shroff), world-famous underworld don is trying to get out of his debt by embezzling diamonds worth 50 crores. He seeks the help of sexy seductress, Saaniya (Jaitley), who hides the diamonds in a sandal. On their way to Mumbai, Kisna's and Saaniya's paths cross in the train. When Saaniya finds out that Inspector Namaane (Shetty) is after her, she hides the diamonds in Arjun's case. Then, you can guess, the whole story revolves around Saaniya trying to get the diamonds back, while Kisna helps convince Shivani's father that Arjun is the right match, while falling in love with Julie (Mitra). From there, ensues many misunderstandings, new loves and hilarious laughter. The acting was excellent. Kher does a great job playing a nearly-blind father, which is the cause for most of the confusion in the movie and the fun. Riteish's several faces keep me entertained until the end -- he does a great job with it. I say he has a knack for comedy, what with hits like Masti, Kya Kool Hai Hum and Malamaal Weekly. Talpade also does a good job in his portrayal of Arjun, the guy who wants the best for everyone. He's come pretty far from Iqbal, and I feel that he has a good future in acting ahead of him. Jaitley and the rest of the female crew do a good job as well. Jaitley's character was a little more in focus, I felt, since she was the "evil villian" in the movie. Sen and Mitra (Shivani and Julie, respectively) were both love interests and also had their fair share of the camera. Be sure to check out the special appearance by Rajpal Yadav, another awesome actor, whose character provides quite a few laughs towards the end of the movie. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie. The songs were good, not great, but a good listen for the first couple of times. I'd recommend it for anyone who's a fan of Deshmukh, or Talpade (even both, like myself!). I didn't expect it to be as good as I thought. So, enjoy watching!

If you really believe that for some time, you can switch off your thinking process, forget that you possess fair amount of reasoning ability and practically keep your brain aside then Apna Sapna Money Money (ASMM) is the right kind of entertainment you could positively enjoy to the hilt. ASMM is a story about a funnily impoverished yet pompous and colorful don who is eager to grab hold of his smuggled diamonds worth 50 crore. ASMM is a pleasing mélange of a platonic love story, a getup expert’s trickeries to swindle people of their belongings, a severely overexposed and overused dil mein chhed (hole in heart) tragedy and a cop’s ambitions to achieve something great in his career. Frankly speaking, there is nothing new or outstanding about the story. In fact, the story writer has used the same worn-out gimmicks and settings to make the people laugh that have been used umpteen times in the past in uncountable movies. The only whiff of freshness is the screenplay coupled with witty and crunchy dialogues and powerful characterization. The film does boast of some not-so-likable humor but in moderate proportions as compared with the last hit Kya Kool Hai Hum. This shouldn’t restrain families from going to the cinemas and enjoying the film on holidays. On the acting front, Ritesh has given stunning performance in a swindler’s role. He looks beautiful in the aunt’s attire and concentrates on the bearing successfully. The greenhorn in the filmdom, Shreyas (Iqbaal and Dor fame) is promising and performs well although he has little scope to show his talent. Jackie Shroff is excellent in the don’s role and Sunil Shetty is hilarious in inspector’s role. Both the senior actors have proved that they can fit into any role, provided the roles should be well-defined and in director’s control. Anupam Kher is as usual appropriate. Chunky Pande achieves some good rating in Nepali don’s role. He is definitely good at comedy and this is high time he got substantial number of opportunities to prove his mettle. Ceilina Jetly, Riya Sen and Koena Mitra satisfy the bare minimum requirement of having good-looking heroines to dance, expose and titillate audience’s fancy. Rajpal Yadav is excellent in Sarkar’s role. Title song is good and “Paisa” song has a nice tune. All the songs have been picturised well and though mediocre, music is in accordance with the screenplay. On the whole, ASMM is some good entertainment for those who love to watch paisa vasool films and sleep peacefully after leaving the experience back at the cinema gate while coming out. It surely tickles the funny bone although few may write off the effort.
