3.5 Very Good

Remaking a yesteryear cult is very tough job.Agneepath (1990) is one of the finest films to come out of the hindi film industry.Agneepath is helmed by a debutante Karan Malhotra. Can he bring back the magic onscreen again ?
Karan Malhotra borrows the main plot from the old version but this Agneepath is not a frame to frame copy of the older version.he erases few characters and injects some new interesting characters in the story.thankfully the screenplay does justice to the story and keeps the viewer engaged at many places.though a bit long, the movie makes a good impact on the viewer.the first half has many thrilling moments.second half is also interesting but the pace is uneven in this hour.the final scene battle between Hrithik And Rishi Kapoor is a real treat to watch.there are also some unwanted scenes in this hour.but the film gathers steam towards the climax.dialogues are good but could have been more powerful.background score is effective.music is decent.'chikni chameli' is a rage.action is raw and gritty and thoroughly enjoyable.cinematography is superb.camera movements are commendable.
direction by debutante Karan Malhotra is superb. he handles the intense scenes with amazing ease.though he lets slip in a few scenes but is effective overall.Agneepath also works because of its performances.Hrithik Roshan is amazing as Vijay Chauhan.he is superb in the intense scenes and the fire really shows in his eyes.masterstroke by the actor ! Priyanka Chopra does not get much scope but she is really good in her scenes.Rishi Kapoor is the scene stealer.his performance makes a huge impact.Sanjay Dutt is superb !
his character is a bit sketchy but he delivers a knockout performance !
Om puri is first rate.Zarina Wahab is natural to the core. Katrina Kaif looks amazing in the song Chikni Chameli.the supporting cast is superb !
overall, Agneepath is a brilliant film with gripping story, powerful performances and superb execution !
