Ram Charan and Sukumar officially reunite for RC17; makers share announcement poster and pooja ceremony video
After months of speculation, filmmaker Sukumar and Ram Charan have officially reunited for their next project, tentatively titled RC17. The makers announced the collaboration on October 31, sharing a poster on social media, along with a video from the film’s grand Muhurat ceremony held in Hyderabad.
The ceremony marked the formal beginning of the project and was attended by Megastar Chiranjeevi as the Special Guest of Honour. He extended his blessings and best wishes to the team. The film brings together T-Series and Mythri Movie Makers, with Bhushan Kumar presenting the project and producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar backing it under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. Sukumar Writings is also associated with the venture.
The upcoming film brings Ram Charan and Sukumar together for the first time since Rangasthalam (2018), their rural drama that went on to become a major commercial success. The new project is being mounted as a high-budget pan-India production, with T-Series also holding its music rights.
Their previous collaboration earned attention for its distinct setting and Ram Charan’s performance as Chitti Babu, a hearing-impaired village mechanic. Set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh, Rangasthalam also featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film’s success made the actor-director combination a closely followed one, adding to the anticipation around their reunion.
Both Ram Charan and Sukumar are returning to the collaboration after high-profile projects. Ram Charan was part of S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR, which received global recognition, and subsequently starred in Game Changer. He was also seen in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Sukumar, meanwhile, directed the Pushpa franchise, with Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, becoming a major box-office success.
The upcoming film is also expected to feature music by Devi Sri Prasad, which would mark another reunion following Rangasthalam. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm the musical collaboration.
Further details about RC17, including its final title, female lead and supporting cast, are awaited. The Muhurat ceremony marks the project's first formal step, with production schedules expected to follow.
