Anurag Kashyap’s thriller Kennedy is gaining attention worldwide, recently screening at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) where it was well received. The film features Rahul Bhat, whose compelling performance has been appreciated at festivals from Cannes to Sydney and now New York.

Audience reactions were immediate and emotional, with one viewer sharing: “One way, it’s sad that the movie Kennedy isn’t released in theatres yet, for reasons that I’m not aware of! But, after a very long time, I have seen such a masterpiece in Hindi Cinema with a gripping story, catchy music and outstanding acting! This movie needs a theatrical release!”

 

Such comments have become increasingly common, as fans in India voice their frustration over the film’s continued absence from local theatres.

 

Both Kashyap and Bhat are nominated in top categories at NYIFF — Best Director and Best Actor respectively — underlining the film’s growing prestige on the festival circuit.

 

The fervour surrounding Kennedy shows no signs of slowing. With each international screening, the call grows louder: India wants Kennedy on the big screen.
