Netflix is set to serve a blend of music and emotion with a captivating Japanese live-action series in 2025, bringing to life Wakagi Mio's acclaimed novel, “Glass Heart.” Starring a stellar cast including Takeru Satoh, Yu Miyazaki, Keita Machida, Jun Shison, and Masaki Suda, the series is set in the vibrant world of aspiring musicians and college life.

Glass Heart follows the journey of a young drummer whose dreams are shattered when she is unexpectedly ousted from her band. However, fate intervenes when she crosses paths with a gifted musician who recognizes her untapped potential and extends an invitation to join his new ensemble.

 



 


 

Takeru Satoh, known for his roles in First Love, takes on the lead role, portraying the determined college student navigating the highs and lows of pursuing her musical aspirations. Yu Miyazaki, Keita Machida, Jun Shison, and Masaki Suda round out the ensemble cast, each bringing their own unique talents and charisma to the screen.

 

As per Netflix, Takeru Satoh not only will play the role of musical genius, Naoki Fujitani, but he also turns the co-executive producer for the series. Playing the drummer, Akane Saijo, is the newcomer Yu Miyazaki, who underwent thorough auditions to land the role. Alice In Borderland’s Keita Machida plays the guitarist, Sho Takaoka. Jun Shison will step into the role of pianist and music geek, Kazushi Sakamoto, while the vocalist of a rival band, Toya Shinzaki, will essayed by Masaki Suda. The report says the series will have “massive filming scale, including scenes featuring tens of thousands of extras for music performances. The actors also went through intensive training to master their instruments so they can play authentically.”

 

Directors Kensaku Kakimoto and Kotaro Goto, known for Parasite In Love and The Naked Director respectively, are spearheading the series. Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and The Anthem of the Heart scriptwriter Mari Okada takes on the writing role along with a team of emerging female scriptwriters Tomoko Akutsu, Shiho Kosaka, and Anna Kawahara.
