Ariana Grande offered an intimate look into Glinda’s emotional world while discussing her character arc in Wicked: For Good, sharing how closely she connected with the sorceress’s inner workings. In an exclusive quote to Bollywood Hungama, the actor-singer said Glinda’s influence in Oz comes from her ability to connect with its citizens on a deeply human level.

“She has a unique ability to understand the citizens of Oz,” Ariana explained, describing Glinda as someone whose charm, sincerity, and outward projection of goodness allow her to shift public sentiment. “She is able to move them, to influence society with her genuine kindness… that power can only be productive on the ground, where she can persuade and shift people little by little until change takes root.”

 

Ariana also touched upon Glinda and Elphaba’s relationship, underscoring the maturity with which they honour each other’s choices. Reflecting on their emotional farewell, she said, “I truly believe and know that the only way they could have stayed in each other’s lives would have been if Elphaba had chosen to stay with her, not if Glinda had chosen to go with her. But they don’t judge each other in making those choices… not even in the moment.”

 

She added that it was important for her to convey Glinda’s support in the film’s final moments: “When Glinda decides to stay, when she ties the cape around her friend, I really wanted to make sure that you could feel her support for Elphaba, and that there wasn’t any judgement there… just concern and love, but understanding.”

 

Ariana’s insight offers a closer look at the emotional fabric of Wicked: For Good, highlighting the friendship at the heart of the story and the quiet strength that shapes Glinda’s journey.
