Dwayne Johnson announces his return to Fast & Furious franchise as Luke Hobbs: “Last summer Vin Diesel and I put all the past behind us”
Back in May 2023, Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa starrer Fast X was released and just like all the screen-smashing action series portrayed in the movie, the box office records too have been smashed by the movie’s crazy fandom. Fast X is the tenth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise which is also a three-part movie. In the end credits, one sees Dwayne Johnson return as Luke Hobbs which excited the fans. Now, the actor has confirmed his return as the fan favourite character in Fast X: Part II.
Johnson announced Hobbs’ return to the franchise with a video which was posted on his social media accounts. The caption read, “Your reactions around the world to Hobbs’ return in Fast X have blown us away. The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the Hobbs movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for Fast X: Part II.”
“Last summer Vin Diesel and I put all the past behind us,” Johnson said in the video. “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & fans that we love. I’ve built my career on an ‘audience first’ mentality and that will always serve as my north star.”
Fast X: Part II is set for 2025 release. It is reported that Johnson will produce the next installment with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia for their Seven Bucks Productions, along with Vin Diesel and Samantha Vincent through their One Race Films.
