BTS’ Jin appointed as new global brand ambassador of luxury fashion house Gucci

Global luxury fashion house Gucci has made a significant move by appointing K-pop sensation Kim Seok Jin, better known as Jin of the world-renowned group BTS, as its newest global brand ambassador. This strategic partnership marks another milestone in Jin’s burgeoning solo career and solidifies Gucci’s deep connection with South Korea. Known for his warm and captivating personality, Jin has garnered a massive global following as the eldest member of BTS. His recent discharge from mandatory military service and subsequent role as an Olympic torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics have further elevated his star power.

According to a report in WWD, Gucci’s creative director, Sabato De Sarno, expressed admiration for Jin’s unique style and magnetic charm. "Jin's warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique," De Sarno said. "He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honored to share this journey with him."

 

Jin, reciprocating the enthusiasm, praised Gucci's iconic status and rich heritage. “Gucci is iconic with a long-standing heritage and modernity. It is meaningful and thrilling to be a part of such a house,” he stated.

 

This announcement comes on the heels of Jin's appointment as a global ambassador for jewellery brand Fred. His partnership with food brand Ottogi’s Jin Ramen noodle franchise and a recent limited-edition collaboration with outdoor specialist Kolon demonstrate his versatility and commercial appeal.

 

Gucci has been actively cultivating its presence in South Korea, evident in its upcoming Gucci Cultural Month initiative, set to launch on October 15 in Seoul. This ambitious project aims to celebrate Korean culture by showcasing the work of influential figures who have brought local arts to the global stage. Collaborating with renowned artists like Kim Sooja, Park Chan-wook, Eun Me Ahn, and Seong Jin Cho, Gucci seeks to deepen its connection with the country's rich cultural tapestry.

 

As Jin embarks on this new chapter with Gucci, fans eagerly anticipate his future projects. While he is currently focused on recording and filming variety shows, the singer has hinted at an album release in the second half of the year. With BTS scheduled to reunite in June 2025 after completing their military service, the group's return is also highly anticipated.
