BOYNEXTDOOR (SUNGHO, RIWOO, JAEHYUN, TAESAN, LEEHAN and WOONHAK) are back with their 2nd EP HOW? The highly anticipated album arrives today, six months after the release of their 1st EP WHY.., closing their first love trilogy that musically journals stories of first love to first heartbreak.

Joined by executive producer and artist ZICO, along with main producer Pop Time, the self-producing all-rounders harmonized their talents and perspectives to unlock their creative potential to the fullest through HOW? The album, features seven tracks—'OUR', 'Amnesia', 'So let’s go see the stars', lead single 'Earth, Wind & Fire', 'l i f e i s c o o l', 'Dear. My Darling', and an English rendition of the lead single—combines comforting sounds that evoke empathy from youth with conversational lyrics that reflect the everyday language of the members. As a result, these tracks effectively trace the evolution of a youthful romance, seamlessly bridging the gap between the band’s debut single album WHO! and their 1st EP WHY.

 

The lead single, 'Earth, Wind & Fire', serves as another prime example of the band's self-producing prowess, with JAEHYUN, TAESAN, and WOONHAK credited for both composition and lyrics. It cleverly draws parallels between the unpredictable dynamics of relationships and the uncontrollable nature of earth, wind, and fire. It showcases the band's musical versatility, particularly in their exploration of hyperpop, a relatively untapped genre in the K-pop scene.

 

The music video for 'Earth, Wind & Fire' vividly portrays the unpredictable twists and turns of first love, utilizing imagery of ever-shifting natural landscapes ranging from deserts to glaciers, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes. These natural phenomena serve as potent metaphors, effectively conveying the central theme of the track throughout the video. The band distinguishes themselves by incorporating ‘KitschCore’ elements such as vibrant sets, colourful graphics, and fast-paced editing techniques, captivating viewers with a sense of whimsy and vitality. Furthermore, the music video highlights BOYNEXTDOOR's fast-paced and energetic dance moves that bring heat to the screen. RIWOO is credited for the meticulous refinement of the lead single's choreography, which results in a performance perfectly tailored to the band's distinctive style that commands the attention of viewers with effortless confidence, charisma, and energy.
