Zwigato Trailer Launch: "Nandita Das told me, 'Iss film ke liye mujhe Shah Rukh Khan bhi haan karenge, toh main unko bhi nahin lungi. I feel that you are suitable for the character'" - Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma is associated with being a funny man thanks to his comic TV show, 'The Kapil Sharma Show'. His two films, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015) and Firangi (2017) also belonged to the comedy genre. As a result, Kapil Sharma surprised one and all by signing Zwigato. Its a slice-of-life story of a delivery boy and is not essentially a comic caper by any angle.

The trailer launch of Zwigato was held today and Kapil Sharma spoke about this aspect. He said, "I have been a fan of Nandita Das' work. So I was already 50% convinced that whatever she offers me, I'll take it up. After all, when you admire someone and their work, you trust that person. Also she makes limited films. She's not someone who makes two films a year. She invests her whole time to the project. I realized that if she's thinking of casting me, it must be for a reason."

 

Kapil Sharma continued, "When she narrated the story of Zwigato, I realized that its an opportunity of a lifetime. After all, no one takes me seriously. Meri biwi ne bhi shaadi ke ek do saal baad seriously liya mujhe, jab main baap ban gaya (laughs)! Until you don't do something, people will not see you in a different light. Hence I'd like to thank Nandita Das and producer Sameer Nair for believing in me."

 

Kapil Sharma then revealed, "I did ask Nandita ma'am after the narration that why did she think of me for this role. Toh inhone badi acchi baat boli. Mujhe tab thodi der ke liye samaj mein nahin aaya ki meri liye compliment thi ya insult thi! She said, 'Iss film ke liye mujhe global star Shah Rukh Khan bhi haan karenge, toh main unko bhi nahin lungi. Aur tumhara chehra aam aadmi jaisa hai. Hence, I feel that you are suitable for the character'."

 

Kapil Sharma added, "I have seen a lot of struggles in life. So, it was not difficult as such (to essay the role)."

 

Besides Kapil Sharma, Zwigato also stars Shahana Goswami, Sayani Gupta and Gul Panag. It releases in cinemas on March 17, 2023.
