Sooraj Pancholi opens up about his 7 year relationship; says, “I think my relationship with Jiah was probably the shortest relationship I have had”

Sooraj Pancholi, who garnered widespread attention earlier this year upon his acquittal from abetment to suicide charges related to the tragic death of late actor Jiah Khan, recently shared some personal insights in an interview. The actor disclosed that he has been in a committed relationship for the past seven years, shedding light on his romantic journey.

In an interview ETimes, Sooraj revealed that, surprisingly, his relationship with Jiah Khan was his shortest one. He expressed, “I think my relationship with Jiah was probably the shortest relationship I have had. After that, I have been in one relationship and it’s been about seven years now, and it is beautiful. There’s nothing in the world that can match up to the feeling of being in love, being taken care of, and doing the same for the other person. For me, this relationship it’s very personal because many have judged me unfairly as a bad lover or partner, but only those close to me know how I am. The general perception is misconstrued.”

 

While Sooraj chose to keep his partner's identity discreet, he affirmed that she is not an actress and therefore preferred not to divulge her name. He elaborated, “She is not an actress and hence, I wouldn’t want to divulge her identity. Besides, I prefer to keep my relationship private because so much about me is out there already.” As for his future plans, especially regarding marriage, Sooraj hinted at the possibility, stating, “Maybe, in a few years.”

 

For the unversed, Sooraj Pancholi, who was in a relationship with Jiah Khan when she died, was accused of abetting her commit suicide by Jiah's mother Rabi Khan after a big argument between the two. However, on April 28, the court acquitted the Sooraj of all charges, stating that there was insufficient evidence linking him to the abetment. Sooraj, the son of Zarina and Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi, made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with the movie Hero, alongside Athiya Shetty. He appeared in court on the same day, accompanied by his mother and actress Zarina Wahab.

 

Almost ten years before, on June 3, 2013, Jiah's mother Rabia Khan discovered her daughter hanging from the ceiling of her home in Mumbai's Juhu neighbourhood. The Juhu Police detained actor Suraj Pancholi, Jiah Khan's then-boyfriend, for aiding suicide after a 6-page letter allegedly written by Jiah was discovered at her home. It was asserted that the suicide letter was evidence against Suraj and that it represented their turbulent relationship.
