Shahid Kapoor starrer O’Romeo drops on Prime Video; Vishal Bhardwaj’s mafia romance thriller streams from April 10 onwards

Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of O’Romeo, headlined by Shahid Kapoor. The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, is now available to stream in India and across more than 240 countries and territories starting April 10, 2026.

Also starring Triptii Dimri, the film brought together a fresh pair on screen. Featuring Avinash Tiwary in a never-seen-before role as an antagonist, the film also has an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, and Farida Jalal in key roles, with Vikrant Massey making a special appearance.

 

Inspired by Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi, O’Romeo is set against the backdrop of 1994 Bombay’s underworld. The narrative follows Ustara, a feared gangster who secretly works for an intelligence officer, Ismail Khan. His mission to take down a powerful financier linked to an international crime syndicate takes a turn when he encounters Afshan, a widow seeking revenge for her lover’s murder.

What begins as a violent pursuit gradually evolves into a layered story where love, betrayal, and survival intersect, blurring the lines between personal and professional loyalties.

 

Known for his distinct storytelling style, Vishal Bhardwaj brings noir elements rooted in real-life accounts of Mumbai’s mafia. The film combines stylised visuals, action-driven sequences, and emotionally charged performances, complemented by music from the filmmaker himself along with lyrics by Gulzar.

 

With its mix of romance and crime, O’Romeo aims to offer a narrative that not only explores the underworld but also reflects on the emotional consequences of choices driven by love and ambition. It released in theatres ahead of Valentine's Day, on February 13.
