Sandeepa Dhar reflects on her emotional journey as Do Deewane Seher Mein hits cinemas: “Naina is finally yours”

As Do Deewane Seher Mein arrives in theatres on February 20, actor Sandeepa Dhar is speaking about the personal impact of portraying Naina in the 2026 romantic drama. Mounted as a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production, Do Deewane Seher Mein brings together Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur for the first time on screen, with Sandeepa Dhar playing a pivotal role. Positioned as a romantic drama set against an emotionally layered backdrop, the film marks another collaboration between Bhansali Productions and director Ravi Udyawar.

With the film now in theatres, Sandeepa has described her experience of living with the character for nearly a year. “I’ve been sitting with Naina for almost a year now, and honestly, she made me think about things I didn’t want to face. How many times have we changed ourselves for someone else’s approval? How many times have we felt like we’re not enough, no matter how hard we try? How often have we looked in the mirror and only seen what’s ‘wrong’? She’s here. Naina is finally yours,” Sandeepa says.

 

 

For the actor, the role extended beyond the script and prompted self-reflection. “Her story is my story. And maybe it’s yours too,” she shares candidly. The emotional arc of the character, particularly themes of validation and self-worth, resonated strongly with her during the filming process. “I don’t have all the answers. I’m still figuring it out myself,” she admits. “But I do know this we deserve better than constantly seeking validation from people who may never give it. We deserve to know our own worth.”

 

Sandeepa also hopes audiences connect with the character’s journey. “If you’ve ever felt like you’re not enough, this film is for you. If you’ve ever lost yourself trying to be perfect for someone else, this one’s for you. Maybe, just maybe, we can find our way back together.”

 

Do Deewane Seher Mein, written by Abhiruchi Chand and directed by Ravi Udyawar, is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali along with Prerna Singh, Umesh Kumar Bansal, and Bharat Kumar Ranga under the banners of Zee Studios, Rancorp Media and Bhansali Productions. The film, which released on Friday, February 20, marks a key theatrical release of 2026 and adds to Bhansali’s expanding slate as a producer.
