Ranbir Kapoor says mother Neetu Kapoor was “devastated” when she caught him smoking
After delivering one of the biggest hits of 2022, Brahmastra, Ranbir Kapoor is once again back on the silver screen with Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The rom-com, also starring Shraddha Kapoor, is receiving a positive response from the audience. Ahead of the film’s release, on March 8, Ranbir actively participated in promotional events and media interaction. In one of his conversations, Ranbir spoke about his mom and actress Neetu Kapoor's reaction when she caught him smoking.
It all happened during his conversation with YouTuber Siddharth Kanan. The host had asked Kapoor to name the one person he lies to the most. He responded, “I’ve lied to my mother the most,” in Hindi. He further added, “I used to get smacked a lot, I was very naughty. I’m a changed man now.”
As the conversation progressed, the host asked Ranbir to talk about the lie that got him into the most trouble. Answering the same, Ranbir said, “When I first smoked a cigarette, my mother found out… It was a very dark time in my life. It was a dark moment, I hadn’t seen my mother feeling so devastated. She thought I was doing heroin.”
By stating that he didn’t try to convince her that he’d stop, he added, “Of course, you feel bad. I apologised profusely, and I begged for forgiveness. But eventually, I guess, parents also give up.”
Coming to the professional front, the 40-year-old actor, as mentioned above, is currently bagging praise for his latest release, TJMM. He will be next seen in Animal opposite Rashmika Mandanna.
