Ram Gopal Varma DEFENDS Poonam Pandey's death "Hoax" for Cervical Cancer awareness: "No one can question your intent"

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has sparked a debate with his reaction to actress Poonam Pandey's recent death hoax, which she later revealed was intended to raise awareness about cervical cancer. On Friday, Pandey's social media handle announced her passing away from cervical cancer. However, the next day, she clarified in a video that she was alive and well. The incident ignited discussions about the ethics of such tactics for raising awareness.

Varma, known for his bold cinematic choices, took to Twitter to express his support for Pandey, stating, "The extreme method you employed to draw attention to this issue might attract some criticism, but no one can question your intent nor what you achieved with this hoax. Discussion on cervical cancer is TRENDING all across now. Your SOUL is as BEAUTIFUL as YOU. Wish you a very very long and happy life."

Varma's comments highlight the divided opinions surrounding Pandey's actions. While some, like Varma, applauded her for bringing attention to the issue, others criticized the method as insensitive and exploitative.
