Piku turns 8 years: Deepika Padukone misses Irrfan Khan, thanks team for the energy
A film that went on to make the biggest impact in 2015 and capture the hearts of audiences, Piku today celebrates 8 years! The film that explored the bitter-sweet bond shared between father-daughter won massive praise for its performances and also went down as one of Deepika Padukone’s career’s finest.
Considering how the film truly showcased the superstar’s prowess as a performer in a real and relatable manner, Piku won Deepika Padukone several accolades but also left her with many memories.
Recounting the connection she shares with the film, Deepika Padukone took to social media to pen a heartfelt note on the film that turns 8 today. Said Deepika Padukone, “It’s been 8 years since this gem of a movie released with these 2 very special people. And if I could relive this experience all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Irfan (Khan) I miss you. Amitabh Bachchan, Shoojit Sircar, Juhi Chaturvedi I love you. To everyone who made this film possible, thank you for your energy.”
On the other hand, speaking of 8 years of Piku, director Shoojit Sircar said, “Deepika is one of my favourites. Whenever my writers and I talk, we always think, ‘What can we do with Deepika’ because I’m so fond of her. It was a brilliant experience working with her. Frankly, while working on Piku, I saw the real actress and real creativity in her; and what she is as a soul. My revelation was that she is a simple, girl-next-door soul, despite having done many other films and potboilers.”
