Karan Johar reviews Kiran Rao's directorial Laapataa Ladies; hails it as a "Gem" and “One of the best films of the year”
Filmmaker Karan Johar has showered praise on Kiran Rao's directorial, Laapataa Ladies, calling it a "gem" and a strong contender for "one of the best films of the year." Karan’s glowing review comes after a special screening event held ahead of the film's release. He took to social media to express his appreciation for Rao's work, highlighting the film's blend of humor, social commentary, and captivating performances.
"I can say with complete assurance that at the end of 2024, this gorgeous film will be hailed as one of the best," Johar wrote. He commended Rao's direction, praising her ability to handle "potent issues with humor, oodles of charm, and superlative performances."
KJo’s review further shed light on his emotional journey while watching the film, mentioning it made him "smile, laugh, tear up, and then applaud the mastery of the filmmaker and writers." He encouraged his followers to watch the film, calling it "ovation-worthy."

Laapataa Ladies is produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios. The film is based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami and features a screenplay and dialogues by Sneha Desai with additional contributions from Divyanidhi Sharma. With anticipation building after Johar's heartfelt review, Laapataa Ladies is poised to make a significant mark when it releases on March 1, 2024.
