Hansal Mehta pens a heartfelt review of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki; says, “Nice to end the year with SRK tugging at your heart strings”

Hansal Mehta, who is known for his unconventional kind of cinema, recently opened up about his experience of watching Dunki. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer which released last week, has opened to mixed responses from audiences but, many from the industry are showering their love on it. Among them was filmmaker Mehta who not only gushed about the film but also was all praises for director Rajkumar Hirani and the leading man SRK as he penned a heartfelt review on the entertainer.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Hansal Mehta penned a review of Dunki wherein he mentioned about how he loved the simplicity of the movie and how he would opt for a Rajkumar Hirani movie any day. He said, “I really enjoyed #Dunki. Not perfect but so what. It’s perfectly fine. It gave me what I miss at the movies. It was nostalgic, heartfelt, simple and an ode to what our films once used to be. Not a film I want to overanalyse or overthink. Give me a @RajkumarHirani film any day. Nice to end the year with @iamsrk tugging at your heart strings, looking into her eyes with love and playing a softie. Lovely ensemble and an enduring charm pervades the film which is not a drama, not a comedy, not a tragedy and not a thriller. It is a Rajkumar Hirani film all the way. Go watch it and decide for yourself.”

 

 

Dunki, which is based on the concept of the illegal route used by immigrants to enter a country, is inspired by several real life stories and also features an ensemble cast of Taapsee Pannu, Anil Grover, Vikram Kochchar in pivotal roles, along with Vicky Kaushal in an extended cameo. The film marked the first collaboration of Hirani with SRK and released worldwide on December 21.
