Govinda Naam Mera director Shashank Khaitan opens up on the cast; says, “Everyone on the sets can be a stand-up comedian on their own”

There are some filmmakers who swear by the script while there are others who willingly allow their actors to improvise on the sets. Shashank Khaitan has proven to be the latter during the shoot of his upcoming quirky comedy Govinda Naam Mera, which stars Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar.

Elaborating on his process, Shashank said in a statement, “I have always believed that everyone has a creative side and as a director I think it's only fair that I allow that creative flow and take bits that could help the film. Luckily, each of the actors involved have their own quirks and their own ingenious methodologies. Not a single moment went by without somebody randomly laughing during the comic scenes.”

 

The filmmaker is convinced that every actor from Govinda Naam Mera has the potential to become a professional comic artiste. “The whole set would resonate with laughter and I sincerely believe that each of them could be a stand-up comedian on their own accord for the number of jokes they crack!”

 

Govinda Naam Mera is Shashank’s next feature film after Dhadak, which was the official remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Produced by Dharma Productions, Govinda Naam Mera will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from December 16.
