Geeta Kapur reflects on working with Farah Khan, "Strict on set, loving off camera"

Choreographer Geeta Kapur shared her experience of working with Farah Khan, describing her as strict on set but warm off-camera. In a conversation with Bharti TV, she said Farah often scolded her during work but also showed immense love.

When asked if Farah Khan had ever yelled at her, Geeta Kapur admitted, “A lot. Her temper has nothing to do with how I worked. She has been like that since she was young. I think she’s a sweeter person off-set. But on-set, it happens by default because you’re working with men all the time. So, automatically, the dominant feature in her comes alive. She feels that if she’s firm, people might listen to her. We’re old-school and came from a male-dominated industry. That’s why she’s like that. She has often scolded me, but she also continues to give me a lot of love.”

 

Geeta Kapur praised Farah Khan’s dedication to her YouTube channel, highlighting her attention to detail. Speaking about Farah’s cook, she said, “Dilip is now a superstar. She has made his life.” Dilip, who now frequently appears in videos and even starred in a commercial with Farah, often joins her in visiting celebrity homes to shoot cooking episodes. Their playful banter, Farah chiding him and Dilip teasing her back, adds a humorous touch to the content.

 

In the interview, Geeta Kapur shared that she spent most of her career assisting only Farah Khan before eventually branching out on her own. The duo collaborated on several iconic songs, including ‘Manwa Laage’ from Happy New Year. Geeta assisted Farah on numerous films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Na, and Om Shanti Om. Apart from choreography, she has also served as a judge on India’s Best Dancer alongside Shilpa Shetty and Anurag Basu.
